Sensing devices using the DeltaV Device Commissioner application

You can use the DeltaV Device Commissioner application to sense wireless HART devices and devices connected to CHARMs.

1. In the I/O Node Selector, right-click the node (CIOC, WIOC, or CSLS) for which you want to sense connected devices and click Acquire.
2. DeltaV Device Commissioner moves the I/O node from the I/O Node Selector to the Work List. Select the I/O node and click the Sense New HART Devices button at the bottom right of DeltaV Device Commissioner.
3. You can stop sensing at any time by clicking Stop Sensing.

When sensing is complete for all selected nodes, the sensed devices are listed along with sensed and generated tags, the CHARMs to which they are connected, the device type, and the commissioning state. This list of sensed devices persists when you close DeltaV Device Commissioner.

If you click the down arrow at the right side of the Sense New HART Devices button, you can select Sense New, Clear and Sense All, or Periodically Sense New. If you click Sense New, the DeltaV Device Commissioner application senses both those devices that have been connected since the last time it sensed devices, and devices associated with items the application has added to the Punch List. If you click Clear and Sense All, the application clears all sensed devices associated with the I/O node and senses all connected devices. Clear and Sense All can take much longer than Sense New. If you click Periodically Sense New, you can select among several preset intervals between sensing or click Custom to provide a custom interval.
