Creating a PID control loop - overview

In this procedure, you will use the PID_LOOP module template from the Analog Control palette as the basis for a module to control the outlet flow valve. This time, you will use DeltaV Explorer to create the module, assign it to a controller, and modify most of the parameters. In addition, note these default settings for other parameters:

• On the CONTROL_OPTS (control options) parameter, Direct acting is not selected, meaning that the parameter is set as reverse acting.

• On the IO_OPTS (I/O options) parameter, Increase to close is not selected, meaning that the parameter is set as increase to open.
