This section provides specifications for the P-series power module.
The P-series power module is required to power attached I/O cards (through the I/O carrier's power connection). The PK controller alone does not require any power modules inserted in the carrier.
The power module provides 3.0 A of LocalBus power. One power module is sufficient for many small systems.
Refer to the installation worksheets for the specific I/O cards you are connecting to calculate power requirements for your installation.
For systems that require additional power (more than the power modules supply), use one of our recommended methods for injecting power into the I/O card carrier.
You can also connect bussed power directly to an I/O carrier (depending on the carrier) to power connected field devices. That is independent of the power module's power to the I/O carrier.
