Windows services and a DeltaV system

For Windows services on the DeltaV workstation, DeltaV Security Administration provides the following features and functionality:

• Displays the current state of all Windows services on the workstation.
• Exports the current status report to a file in CSV and XML format.
• Displays the DeltaV default Windows services profile (DDWSP), which will include service name, service status, startup type, and log on as information.
• Exports the DeltaV default Windows services profile (DDWSP) to a file in CSV and XML format.
• Audits the Windows services by comparing the current status of the Windows services with the DeltaV default Windows services profile (DDWSP), highlighting any differences.
• Exports the audit results to a file in CSV and XML format.
• Resets the Windows services to the DeltaV default Windows services profile (DDWSP) settings on an individual basis, that is, one at a time.
  Note

  A reset of the Windows services requires a reboot of the computer.

• Allows the administrative user to flag changed Windows services as approved changes to distinguish them from non-approved changes.
• Logs any changes identified in the audit report to the Windows security event log.

The Windows service audit will show some services as started or stopped periodically without any action taken by the user. This is due to the operating system behavior. Keep in mind that Windows services that differ from the DeltaV default profile could be due to changes by the operating system.

The final configuration summary of the Windows services as set by DeltaV installation (referred to as the DeltaV Default Windows Services Profile (DDWSP)) is exported at the end of installation and placed in the DvData\Import-Export directory in a file named DDWSP.csv.
