You can use the DeltaV Device Commissioner application to commission
HART devices connected to CHARMs in the DeltaV system. Device commissioning
consists of the following four tasks, referred to as
phases:
- Sense
phase--Identifying connected devices.
- Bind phase--Verifying
or establishing references between sensed devices and control strategies.
During this phase, sensed devices are associated with CHARMs and WIOCs, device
placeholders are reconciled, and CHARMs and wireless device placeholders are
assigned to controllers.
- Configure
phase--Configuring devices using AMS Device Manager configuration data.
This phase is optional.
- Test phase--Testing
the responses of devices.
DeltaV Device Commissioner can automate most of the device commissioning
tasks you perform manually in DeltaV Explorer. In I/O Studio, you configure
auto-commissioning policies that determine how DeltaV Device Commissioner
performs the device commissioning process, including the following:
- Whether device signal tags
(DSTs) come from field devices or from CHARMs
- Whether commissioning phases
execute automatically in sequence or must be activated individually by the user
- Whether testing of output
devices is done automatically or not
- How certain conflicts are
resolved during the device commissioning process
