Set the baud rate for a DeviceNet device

You can use Diagnostics to set the baud rate for devices that support the use of the baud rate attribute for a DeviceNet Object (for more information, refer to the conformance documentation for the device).

To set the baud rate of a DeviceNet device, complete the following steps:

  1. Select the device.
  2. Right-click, and then select Set Device Baud Rate to open the Set Device Baud Rate dialog.
When changing the baud rate, be aware of the following considerations:
    • The device baud rate must match the master baud rate (the DeviceNet port). The baud rate is a property of the port. Use DeltaV Explorer to view the port properties. If you change the port baud rate in DeltaV Explorer, be sure to download the change.
    • I/O Polling must be disabled for the device. Use DeltaV Explorer to view the device properties.
    • The device must be reset or power cycled for the baud rate to take effect.
