Decommission a controller with commissioned SLS 1508 Logic Solver cards

This procedure assumes an SLS 1508 Logic Solver is commissioned to a card in the I/O subsystem of the controller being decommissioned. You cannot delete a controller that has commissioned Logic Solvers running under it.

If the controller to be decommissioned contains commissioned Logic Solvers, you will be unable to communicate with the Logic Solvers until you commission a controller at this controller placeholder. Decommissioning a controller may be necessary if you need to replace the hardware of a failed controller. In such a case you need to decommission the failed controller, and then commission the new controller at the same controller placeholder. You do not have to decommission the Logic Solvers to do this. The Logic Solvers continue to run.

  1. Navigate to the Controller in the Control Network.
  2. Right-click, and then select Decommission.
    Note:
A message is displayed to warn that the controller contains commissioned Logic Solvers and that you will not be able to communicate with them until you commission a controller at this placeholder.
  3. Click Yes to confirm the decommissioning.
