You can install OSIsoft PI Server on a non-DeltaV workstation to function as the historian on your DeltaV system. The integrated PI Server is used to configure, collect, store, and retrieve historical data from DeltaV. You can use PI Server instead of or in addition to using the DeltaV Continuous Historian or the Advanced Continuous Historian. The integrated PI Server can be installed on a non-DeltaV workstation, either outside (Level 3) or inside (Level 2.5) the DeltaV control system firewall. Using PI Server on a non-DeltaV workstation requires the DeltaV Smart Connector, as well as a DeltaV OPC Data Access Server and an Enterprise Historian Configuration Interface license from Emerson. The DeltaV Smart Connector includes the DeltaV Asset Connector and the PI OPC Data Access (DA) Interface.
