DeltaV Ethernet I/O Card

Virtual EIOC

The virtual Ethernet I/O Card (vEIOC) is a virtual machine image of the physical Ethernet I/O card. It offers the same functionality as the physical card, but can only be used in a simulated environment for offline development, simulation, testing and training. Like the physical EIOC, the vEIOC supports the following protocols:

You configure a vEIOC in the same manner as a physical EIOC. The vEIOC supports the same function blocks as the EIOC. The same configuration can be used for both the vEIOC and the physical EIOC. The vEIOC supports a redundant Area Control Network and a redundant device network.

A template is used to simplify the management of the vEIOC in DeltaV Virtual Studio. After the vEIOC is configured and set up in DeltaV Virtual Studio it appears in DeltaV Explorer in the same way as the EIOC; however, it uses a different model number. The vEIOC is simplex but supports high availability options such as failover clusters and replication in DeltaV Virtual Studio.

Note

The host's time must be set to UTC time and not local time. This is because the virtual machines (vEIOCs) get their initial time from the host when the virtual machine starts.

For more information on the vEIOC, visit the DeltaV website and refer to the DeltaV Virtual EIOC product data sheet. For more information on DeltaV Virtual Studio refer to the DeltaV Virtualization media.
