The Ethernet I/O Card (EIOC) provides an interface to Ethernet device
networks and to devices that use one of the following protocols:
- Modbus TCP/IP
- Ethernet/Industrial Protocol (Ethernet/IP)
- IEC 61850 Manufacturing Message Specification (MMS)
- OPC UA
- Ethernet/IP Control Tag Integration interface
The EIOC accesses data for history collection, alarming, and limited
control. The EIOC is not a DeltaV controller. Unlike a DeltaV controller, the
EIOC:
- Supports a subset of function blocks that are used for motor control
and supervisory control.
- References device data only, it does not reference other I/O such as
CHARMs I/O.
- Only references data from devices on the network to which it is
connected and external module data. It does not support externally referenced
device data directly.
The EIOC mounts on a carrier that houses a dual port for connections to
the DeltaV Area Control Network and to the intelligent device network. The EIOC
can communicate with M and S-series controllers using the standard
inter-controller communications.
The EIOC's port defines the protocol used, the physical devices, their
logical devices, and device signals. Logical devices are groups of functions
for the physical device. The device signals are used to access the device data,
OPC UA data and Ethernet/IP control tag data.
