Add users

  1. Click FileNewUser.
  2. Type a name in the Name box.
    Note

Names are limited to 20 characters, must include at least one letter, and may include alphanumeric characters, spaces, $, _ and -.

  3. Type the user's complete name in the Full Name box.
  4. In both the Password and Confirm Password boxes, type a password. (Passwords are case-sensitive.)
  5. Type a description in the Operating System Description box.
  6. Select the user's computer or domain. If this value is not the same as the local computer name or the DeltaV system domain name, the fields in the Account Type area are grayed. This field is grayed for workgroup systems.
    Note

If you are attempting to add domain users and you cannot select the domain, you are not logged on to the domain. Log off the workstation and log back on, making sure you log on to the domain, not the local computer.

  7. Click Manage Domains to add or delete computers and domains from the database. This field is grayed for workgroup systems.
  8. Select the account type: Operating System, DeltaV, or both. Both are selected by default.
  9. Select a role for this user. In domain systems, the role specifies the user's local group and GPO. In workgroup systems, the role specifies the user's local group only.
  10. To enter information about the user's home directory and account/password status, click the Advanced tab.
    Note

Windows Account Policies determine password characteristics like expiration time, length, and so forth. They are not set from within the DeltaV User Manager.

  11. To add the user account to any existing groups or grant keys to the user, select the Groups tab or Keys (or SIS Keys) tab, respectively.
  12. To create the user account, click OK.
    Note

In a workgroup environment, each user must have a Windows and DeltaV database account with the same user name and password on every workstation in the DeltaV workgroup where that user needs to log into. Creating a user account in DeltaV User Manager creates the DeltaV database account on all workstations in the workgroup but creates a Windows account only on the local workstation. To create the Windows account on other workstations in the DeltaV workgroup system, select FileReplicate Account and select the pertinent workstations (where that user would need to log into). Using the DeltaV Explorer, download all the workstations available to that user.
