DeltaV Version Control and Audit Trail (VCAT) for documents makes it possible to use the DeltaV database to manage changes to any type of document or file by retaining previous versions of these files. Version Control for documents is similar in functionality to Version Control for configuration and user security. The topics in this section describe any specific information or instructions regarding Version Control for documents.
To use VCAT for documents you must set working folders (directories on a hard drive accessible from the workstation) to hold documents while you are working on them. After setting working folders you do not need to use Windows Explorer to navigate to the documents to work on them. Because the documents are also in the DeltaV database, you can access all documents from DeltaV Explorer. That is, from DeltaV Explorer you can check documents out of VCAT, edit the documents, save the documents, and check them back in to VCAT.
You cannot save documents larger than 25 megabytes. An error message appears if you attempt to save documents larger than this limit.
