Resolve a unit alias

  1. Open the Batch List screen. Click the Add button to add a batch
    Note

If the User ID Verification function is enabled for adding a batch, the Change User button is available. You can temporarily change the user who will be performing the function. Any security checks (area privileges, and so on) are performed on the changed user.

  2. Select the unit alias from the list. The unit alias is listed in the Unit Aliasing pane and is noted by hatch marks (#) around the alias name (for example, #unitalias#).
    Note

Fixed aliases are already resolved to the unit shown and cannot have their equipment resolution changed.

  3. Select the unit to resolve to from the list of units available for that alias name. A unit alias is based on a unit class. All units displayed in the list are based on the same unit class that the unit alias is based on. Once the alias is resolved, all steps associated with this unit alias will run on the selected equipment. You can also leave it as Defer and the alias resolution is deferred until the step runs or until the transition before the step executes if the option, Acquire a unit prior to starting a unit procedure, is selected in the recipe.
    Note

If no units are available in the list, contact a supervisor. Possible causes: you may not have the correct privileges for the areas assigned to this Batch Executive; or, there are no units of the required unit class are assigned to this Batch Executive.

  4. Click Create (or Update) to create the batch and resolve the aliases.
