The DeltaV Batch Executive dialog provides the display of information about the Batch Executive. The Batch Executive coordinates the executing of all recipes run in the DeltaV Batch subsystem, including: Phase Requests, Phase Logic, Phase Messaging, Hold Propagation, Process Inputs, Process Outputs, Batch Inputs, Batch Reporting, Report Archiving, and Operator Prompts.
Start and stop the Batch Executive Server from this dialog. The Batch Executive Server must be running before the Batch Operator Interface or Campaign Manager can run.
WARNING!Starting and stopping the Batch Executive impacts all recipes that have been scheduled or are currently executing. Stopping the Batch Executive stops all currently running recipes. This causes the system to write to the Watchdog parameter. Any logic you have in your phases that relies on the Watchdog parameter will be affected. Therefore, it is important that you verify that it is safe to stop the Batch Executive first.
The logged on user must have the keys to the Batch_Control_Start and Batch_Control_Stop function locks. These keys should be tightly controlled; that is, the assigning of these keys in DeltaV User Manager should be done cautiously.
When enabling or disabling Batch Executives in DeltaV Explorer (and after downloading the new configuration), you will need to restart the Application Manager to see the new list of Batch Executive servers.
CAUTION!If a Batch Executive server is being disabled, you must first shut down that Batch Executive from the Application Manager before downloading the new configuration and restarting the Batch Application Manager. If a disabled Batch Executive is not stopped prior to downloading the new configuration and restarting the Application Manager, that Executive will no longer appear in the list of available Executives in the Application Manager's list (since it has been disabled). At this point, the only way to stop the Batch Executive would be to use the Service Control Manager found in Windows Control Panel on the disabled Batch Executive's computer.
