Controlling phases

The Phase Control screen is the screen that provides the most information about a batch's phases. A significant amount of phase-level detail is available, including a phase's:

State - the phase's current state.

Owner - the current controller of the phase. In the Phase Control screen, there are three Phase Owner buttons:

  • DVB (under recipe control by the DeltaV Batch system)

  • Opr (acquired by operator from the Phase Control screen)

  • Ext (external source such as Control Studio Online, or a faceplate)

These buttons become green to indicate the owner of the selected phase.

Mode - the current mode of the step, either AUTO or SEMI-AUTO. In SEMI-AUTO (SINGLE_STEP) mode, the phase PAUSES at each pause point, which has been programmed into the phase logic.

Step index - the current step of the active phase, displayed as a number on the Select Phase button. The step index is set by the phase logic.

Failures - any instances where the phase did not function properly.

When controlling a phase manually, you can enable the ability to combine a manual phase's history with another batch's history. When the operator manually starts the phase, the option to select a batch (by batch ID) with which the manual phase history will be combined is presented in the Phase Start dialog. The operator can also opt to not combine histories.
