Understanding batch states

As a batch executes, it transitions through various states. The batch state is displayed in several locations within the Batch Operator Interface; every window has either a field or a column where the state information is visible. It is important that the operator always knows the current state of the batch, because the commands available for the operator to issue to the batch are dependent on the batch's current state.

When a batch is forced to shut down (from the Administer Batches tab on the Advanced dialog for the Batch Application Manager), it goes to the Lost state. From the Lost state, the batch can be restarted using either a Warm or Cold restart.
