Change the data source for historical data

To change the connection to a historical data server where the DeltaV Continuous Historian, the Advanced Continuous Historian, or OSIsoft PI Server is running, complete the following steps:

  1. Click File → Set Default Data Servers to open the Set Default Data Servers dialog.
  2. In the Historical Data Server field on the Continuous Historian tab:
    • Select a source for historical data from the drop-down list for the process data (parameter references) displayed for historical data in the events grid or trended on charts.
    • To connect to the machine where you are running Process History View, select localhost.
    • If the node where the historian is running does not appear on the drop-down list—for example, in a DeltaV Zones environment or when the historian is installed on a non-DeltaV workstation—you can enter the node name in the Historical Data Server field explicitly.
    • If you clear the Historical Data Server field, leaving it blank, Process History View connects only to the DeltaV OPC Server for real-time data, not to any historical data server.
  3. To set the specified historical data server as the default data source to be used whenever you start Process History View, enable the Save as my Application Startup Data Server option.
    Tip

To improve performance when collecting historical data with the Advanced Continuous Historian or with a PI Server enterprise historian, enable the Connect to Advance Continuous Historian Server option.

  4. Click OK to close the dialog and save your changes.
