Commission a fieldbus device to a placeholder

  1. Navigate to the decommissioned fieldbus device (System Configuration/Physical Network/Control Network/controller/I/O/card/port/Decommissioned Fieldbus Devices).
    Note:
    The decommissioned fieldbus devices appear in the right pane. Decommissioned devices can be in the offline or spare states. To display the state of the decommissioned fieldbus devices in the right pane, click View → Details. You must place the device in the standby state before commissioning it to a placeholder.
  2. Right-click the decommissioned device in the right pane, and then click Place in standby. The software displays a message box showing the status of the state change.
    Note:
    The Do Not Wait notice appears. If you click this, the state change continues in the background, but the notice goes away, enabling you to do other work.
  3. Drag the standby device from the right pane to the placeholder in the left pane. The Device Commissioning wizard starts, enabling you to reconcile differences between the block parameters in the physical device with those in the placeholder. Follow the instructions in the wizard to reconcile the block parameters.
    Note:
    You can only drag a fieldbus device to a placeholder of the same manufacturer, type, and device revision.
