Troubleshoot decommissioned CHARM I/O Cards

If the CHARM I/O Card (CIOC) assembly (CIOCs, CIOC carrier and I/O Ports) was previously installed and commissioned, it could have been removed without being properly decommissioned. As long as the CIOCs are still in the same slots with the same I/O Ports, they retain their IP address even if power is removed from the carrier and can interfere with communications to an existing node with the same IP address. If you suspect that the CIOCs were not properly decommissioned, the CIOCs must be reset before the assembly is installed and commissioned to another system. Follow these steps to troubleshoot the status of the CIOCs. If the CIOCs are commissioned, reset the CIOCs.

  1. Confirm that the CIOCs are correctly installed in the carrier.
  2. Check the LEDs on the CIOCs to determine if the CIOCs are decommissioned ( Power LED is constant green, Error LED is flashing red, and the Primary and Secondary ACN LEDs are flashing yellow).
  3. Check the LEDs for other conditions:
    1. If no LEDs are lit, confirm that the CIOC carrier has been supplied with 24 VDC power.
    2. If the network LEDs are not flashing, confirm that the I/O Ports are correctly installed.
    3. If the LEDs on the I/O Ports are not flashing, they are not communicating on the network. Ensure that the network cable is properly connected at the I/O Port and the switch.
    4. If the LEDs indicate that the CIOC is commissioned but the CIOCs have not been commissioned on this system, the CIOC is still in a previous commissioned state and must be reset.
