Diagnostic application introduction

The Diagnostics application’s window is divided into panes. The four main panes are described here.

Status Box

The Diagnostics application polls each node to determine overall integrity and scans each node to determine if subsystems have been added or removed from the run-time system installed on the workstation. The Status box reports the polling and scanning tasks.

Hierarchy

Shows the arrangement of nodes (DeltaV Controllers and DeltaV workstations) and subsystems (Communications, I/O cards, Control, Alarms and Events, and so on) in your Control Network.

Parameters

The Contents pane displays objects such as nodes, subsystems, and parameters that are under the selected item in the hierarchy. Use the View menu commands to change the way that objects are displayed. Parameters provide diagnostic information such as counters, status, and rates, that is useful for determining node integrity. Each node or subsystem in the hierarchy has a set of diagnostic parameters associated with it. To see the parameter path, double-click the parameter icon. Right-click the parameter, and then select Help for help on the parameter.

Integrity History

The Integrity History section lists: the integrity of nodes and subsystems for the current session that initially had faulty integrity; and all integrity transitions such as going good, going bad; and the time the integrity transition occurred. This list can be printed and saved to a file.
