I/O Studio does not support the use of spreadsheets to edit most configuration properties of device placeholders in bulk. However, you can use device masters and device templates to standardize the configuration of device placeholders.
A device master enables you to standardize the configuration of a group of identical devices. You can use a device master to create multiple identical device placeholders in bulk. You can also apply a device master to one or more existing device placeholders. A device placeholder to which a master has been applied is called a consumer of that master.
A device configuration template enables you to apply identical configuration values to device placeholders or device masters that share sets of configuration properties. A device placeholder or device master to which a template has been applied is called a consumer of that template. I/O Studio includes the following three types of device configuration templates:
Some device properties are not supported by templates. Templates do not support the Alarm Association, Test Readback Path, Test Readback Scale, and Test Readback Units properties of HART devices. You can edit those properties in bulk using a Microsoft Excel spreadsheet.
You can access device masters and device configuration templates in I/O Studio on the I/O Library pane, and in DeltaV Explorer under Library>>I/O Studio Library.
